Approved by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and authorized by the State Council, the Autumnal Equinox Day has been designated as the 'Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival' since 2018. This is the first national holiday specifically dedicated to farmers, reflecting the high regard of the Party Central Committee, with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, for agricultural and rural work, and its profound concern for the vast farming population. It is a historic event of great significance and a heartwarming celebration for the people.

On September 22, 2023, on the eve of the autumnal equinox according to the lunar calendar, Doumen District welcomed the 'Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival' as scheduled. With the theme 'Celebrate Abundant Harvests, Promote Harmony and Beauty,' the event showcased the achievements of Guangdong's agricultural and rural development and the modern vitality of the farming population through a rich and diverse array of activities.

The event was attended by distinguished guests, including Su Hu, Secretary of the District Committee; Han Yun, Deputy Secretary of the District Committee and District Mayor; Wang Aimin, Party Committee Member of the Municipal Agriculture and Rural Bureau and Chief Livestock and Veterinary Doctor; Yang Zhenzhao, Chairman of the District People's Congress Standing Committee; and Gou Bing, Chairman of the District Political Consultative Conference. The leadership team of Doumen District, leaders from various towns, parks, and government departments were also present. In addition, representatives from Doumen's top ten lychee cultivation experts, the New Farmers Association, and the Fishery Association of Baijiao Town in Doumen District were specially invited to participate.

Doumen District focuses on the 'Harvest Festival Economy' as a key initiative, with a particular emphasis on innovative development under the 'Guolu' (National Sea Bass) brand. Doumen places the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy as a top priority in the district's work, harnessing the strengths of various parties to diligently carry out tasks related to the rural revitalization strategy. This comprehensive approach aims to revitalize industries, beautify the countryside, and improve the livelihoods of farmers. Through the 'Harvest Festival Economy,' Doumen District presents a new outlook on rural construction, showcasing the new vitality of Chinese farmers. The 'Harvest Festival' harvests not only tangible crops but also the results of a decade of innovation and development in Doumen District.

The event featured a product exhibition and sales area with a wide variety of agricultural products, including fresh fruits, specialty snacks, traditional delicacies, exquisite fabrics, and wooden crafts.
